Half-Million Canadian Job Vacancies Reported

In June 2019, Statistics Canada published its Job Vacancy and Wage Survey which reported there were over half a million unfilled Canadian job vacancies in the first three months of 2019 due to a shortage of workers. Canada’s governmental statistics agency also revealed that 80 percent of those half-million unfilled positions were full-time Canadian jobs. The Job Vacancy and Wage Survey collected information from around 100,000 Canadian companies and discovered an increase of unfilled jobs in Canada’s seven largest economic sectors between the first quarter of 2018 and the first quarter of 2019. Business sectors with the biggest year-over-year rise in open jobs in Canada included healthcare and social assistance; professional, scientific and technical services; and manufacturing. Quebec saw the sharpest spike in unfilled Canadian jobs over the previous 12 months, followed by British Columbia and Ontario. To read more, click here!
