Canada Has 3 of the World’s Top 10 Most Livable Cities

Vancouver, Calgary and Toronto are among the world’s top 10 most livable cities for 2023, according to a global assessment of cities performed by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU). The EIU rated 173 cities worldwide based upon culture, education, environment, healthcare, infrastructure and stability.  Vienna (Austria) was ranked as the #1 most livable city in the world for 2023, followed by #2 Copenhagen (Denmark), #3 Melbourne (Australia), #4 Sydney (Australia), #5 Vancouver (Canada), #6 Zurich (Switzerland), #7 Calgary (Canada) tied with #7 Geneva (Switzerland), #9 Toronto (Canada), and #10 Osaka (Japan). Although Australia and Switzerland each had two cities in the top 10, only Canada was honored with having three of the highest-rated cities. Some of the best things about living in Vancouver are the beautiful outdoor areas, such as Stanley Park, the coast and Grouse Mountain which overlooks Vancouver, as well as its diversity of restaurants and welcoming residents. Calgary is about one hour away from the scenic Canadian Rockies and is known for its small town charm, friendly residents, annual rodeo and low cost of living. Toronto is the largest city in Canada, boasting over 1,500 parks, a multicultural population, a thriving start-up scene, and an underground walkway for pedestrians called PATH that lets people walk to stores, restaurants and even visit the doctor during the winter without needing to wear a coat.
